Decoration:The colour of the pottery varies from deep red to light red. A thin slip of red ochre is applied and burnished. The burnishing, i.e. wet-smoothening, is done when the vessel is leather-hard with pebbles of hematite, which leaves a powder of iron oxide sticking to the surface. After firing it produces the beautiful lustrous effect.The painted designs are in deep black. The designs are geometric, and of both, plant and animal motifs. The painting seems to have been done after firing.
